Join us as we share our unforgettable journey through this breathtaking part of the American Southwest!

A Journey Through Nature’s Masterpiece

Our adventure began as we arrived at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which spans over 1.2 million acres of beautiful canyons, lakes, and rugged terrain. The park is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the spring and fall when temperatures are milder. We were excited to explore the Lake Powell area, which is a central attraction of the park.
The park's entrance fee is $30 per vehicle for a 7-day pass, giving you access to all the incredible views and activities. As we drove along the scenic route, we were mesmerized by the towering red rock formations and the deep blue waters of Lake Powell. It was as if we had stepped into a painting!

Water Adventures and Scenic Views

One of the highlights of our trip was renting a boat to explore the serene waters of Lake Powell. With over 2,000 miles of shoreline, the lake offers countless coves and inlets to discover. We spent the day cruising through crystal-clear waters, stopping at various spots to swim and take in the stunning scenery.
For those seeking adventure, kayaking and paddleboarding are popular activities. We even spotted some incredible wildlife, including birds and fish, which added to the experience. If you’re looking for a more relaxed pace, the Horseshoe Bend viewpoint is a must-see. Just a short hike from the parking area, this iconic bend in the Colorado River offers one of the most photographed views in the area.

Practical Information for Your Visit

Here are some practical tips to enhance your experience at Glen Canyon:
Weather: The weather can vary significantly, so check the forecast before your visit. Summers can be extremely hot, while spring and fall offer more comfortable temperatures.
Hydration and Safety: Always carry plenty of water, especially if you plan to hike or spend a lot of time outdoors. Sunscreen and hats are also essential, as the sun can be intense.
Wildlife Watching: Keep your distance from any wildlife you encounter, and remember to follow park guidelines to protect both yourself and the animals.

Where to Stay

For accommodations, we recommend the Lake Powell Resort, which is conveniently located within the recreation area. The resort offers stunning views of the lake and comfortable rooms starting at around $200 per night. There are also dining options on-site, allowing you to enjoy a meal while soaking in the gorgeous surroundings.
Additionally, if you're looking for a more adventurous stay, consider camping at one of the park’s campgrounds. Prices for camping range from $20 to $30 per night, offering a chance to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.
